Those are just three of the adjectives that come to mind when describing the behavior of Shorewood Mayor Jennifer Labadie at the Sept. 14, 2026 council meeting.   What should have been a routine clarification of the rules for Matters From the Floor became a demonstration of high-handedness by Labadie.

Dispute: One Mayor, Two Committees

A year-long dispute between the member cities of the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department Coordinating Committee came to a head at the June 6 meeting.   The issue: Is Greenwood Mayor Tom Fletcher violating the SLMPD Joint Powers Agreement by serving on both of the SLMPD governing committees?

A Few ‘Loud’ Voices

The Shorewood City Council voted to authorize travel to Washington D.C. by Mayor Jennifer Labadie, contingent on funding provided from a private lobbying group, Minnesota Transportation Alliance (MTA).   That decision is a mistake and that money should be refused.
