Here are three, quick, informative articles for readers this week.
On May 30, Deephaven Chief of Police Cory Johnson submitted a message to parents on NextDoor defining what makes an e-bike legal and informing them that their children under age 15 can’t legally operate them.
Both enforcement actions and electric equipment have taken a step forward this e-bike/e-motorcycle season.   Three Rivers Park District enforcement vehicles were on the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail the afternoon of Mar. 27, and had 4 bikes “corralled” for what appeared to be a serious discussion.
The October 15 Shorewood council meeting will introduce an ordinance regulating e-bikes. Until now, the council has not publicly discussed the e-bike chaos in our city.   There was no public comment before the creation of this ordinance. How this version came to be, with so few specifics, is unknown. Here are 5 suggestions for creating e-bike regulations:
Unlike Shorewood, Excelsior has proven that some simple additions to an ordinance to improve it's understanding is not impossible to do.
