Resident Jim Hirner asked the council to look into the increased low-flying air traffic from MSP airport. Staff was directed to write a letter to the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC).
4. Reports & presentations:
- Recycling Update
- Communications/Recycling Coordinator presented a breakdown of 2024 city-wide statistics and revenue/expense.
- 5 year Republic contract for recycling expires in March.
- The city history is “renewing” the contract for five years without submitting a Request for Proposal (RFP) to qualified vendors.

8. General new business-commission appointments
- Park Commission: Amy Wenner, Jim Hirner and Janet Sylvester
- Planning Commission: Cindy Holker, Danielle Longo, Eric Magestad
9. Staff & council reports
- Four applications for the planning director position have been received.
- Administrator’s Report:
- LMCC has announced that two new cable providers have applied for permits.
- Street maintenance plan and mill and overlay report due in March
- Park planning document update going out for RFPs
- RFP for banking services resulted in retaining the current bank and overall cost savings.
- Council retreat is Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025 (this is a public meeting).
- Public works director attended a 4-hour Hwy 7 meeting in Minnetonka. A full report will be provided at the next meeting.
