Scammers are sending text messages saying that you owe tolls to MnDOT or E-ZPass. This scam is taking place nationwide with the scammer updating the message with the local DOT jurisdiction. According to MnDOT, E-ZPass will NEVER send notifications via text. You could get a letter, although some of those are scams also. Before you click on a link or send any money, contact E-ZPass or the jurisdiction in question.
What to do if you receive a text:
- Do not reply; delete the text.
- Do not set up an account or send any information.
- If you have already clicked on a message, take efforts to secure your personal information and financial accounts by changing passwords.
E-Z Pass Contacts:
- The Golden Valley E-ZPass Minnesota Service Center (2055 Lilac Drive North) is open for in-person customer service, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- If you are uncomfortable with an in-person transaction, they can be contacted via email at customerservice@ezpassmn.net or by phone at 1-866-397-4334.
