Once a rare sighting in the area, bald eagles are now a daily occurrence seen soaring above the Lake Minnetonka area, including on the southwest end of the lake and on the eastern bays. In past years, the MN DNR has managed an “eagle cam” for 24/7 viewing of nesting eagles. Unfortunately, last year the nest being observed collapsed. The now defunct nest had viewers watching the stream from all 50 states and 160 countries.
On November 21, the MN DNR set up a new eagle camera. The camera renews the “birds’ eye view” of a different nesting pair, although the original pair has relocated nearby. The new camera is now streaming live on YouTube. Check it out through the link below.
