Who doesn’t enjoy a hummingbird?

The Excelsior Fire District Joint Powers Authority board convened over multiple sessions to review independent investigation reports and consider disciplinary action against Fire Chief Curt Mackey.
On April 8, they voted 3–2 to terminate Chief Mackey, effective immediately.

The Shorewood council had some tough decisions to make at the Apr. 13 council meeting:
– Whether to build an $813k Mill Street water main serving only 25 homes.
-Whether to revoke an operating license for a massage business.

Mill Street trail construction has started as part of a larger Hennepin County job. Shorewood owns a segment of the trail. As is now common with recent Shorewood projects, the council agreed it made sense to install the pipe.
But, the real question remains: Who pays and when?

Shorewood is headed for a tsunami of debt. Based on city council’s approval of the 2026 Long-Term Financial Management and Capital Improvement Plans the city is continuing an unprecedented spending spree never seen before.
